Education Law Review questionnaire
THE CGi has been asked to provide feedback on the Education Law Review by the Committee for Economic Development. You may be aware of this and already contributed to the questionnaire.
One of the provisions includes the possible introduction of a ‘participation age. This would require young people to remain engaged in some level of formal education or training beyond compulsory education age.
The Committee for Education, Sport & Culture says that the benefits of continued learning beyond the end of compulsory education at 16 includes an increased likelihood of gaining further qualifications, which in turn improves employment opportunities and increases expected salary.
Education is particularly interested in the views of employers and recognises that, at the commencement of a new Education Law, participation age may match compulsory education age.
