States confirms new measures for local business

The States has updated us this morning on a new raft of measures designed to support local businesses.

This information is not yet available on-line but a precis of this is as follows:

Pay-roll co-funding scheme – The States will pay employees an amount equivalent to 80% of Guernsey’s minimum wage. This is currently set at £8.50 per hour for adults and for a 35-hour week, equates to £238.

This will be for an initial period of three months.

Grant to businesses – £3,000 to all businesses with fewer than 10 employees.

Hardship fund – This is being administered by Social Security and will help the tourism, hospitality and construction sectors.

We are meeting with the States tomorrow morning so will be providing feedback on these measures and also on the emails and phone calls received from CGi members over the past few days.
